There are two kinds of people in the world: those who see a coach as a sign of weakness … and those who see a coach as an avenue to greatness.
Elite athletes know it. Tiger Woods has a coach. So does Michael Phelps (at least he did when he made his incredible run for the Olympics).
Savvy leaders have coaches as well. Ambition is not enough. To be successful—nay, remarkable—you need the advice of an outside observer who brings a diversity of experiences and an objective point of view. You need the constant pressure of an advocate who sees your potential and knows what to do to help you realize it.
Retaining a coach is not a sign of weakness. Retaining a coach is a sign that you intend to move forward. I wish you success.
